Lors de la restauration de la casa Zapata pour en faire un musée, les archéologues ont eu la surprise de trouver un "nuraghe" sous la demeure . Ces forteresses étaient en place par milliers sur toute l'île 1500 ans avant JC. Il s'agit de la demeure de M. Zapata qui était le maître de cette région sarde quand l'île était sous domination catalane. C'est le "nuraghe" le plus connu de Sardaigne le seul monument de l'île classé par l'UNESCO au patrimoine mondial de l'Humanité. Il a fallut 6 ans à l'archéologue Giovanni Lilliu pour le dégager dans les années 50. Le mur latéral du tombeau proprement dit qui supporte une allée couverte d'une dizaine de mètre. Le nom du monument "Tombeau des géants" est dû à sa taille. Il s'agissait d'une tombe collective et probablement utilisée par plusieurs génération successive. Civilisation nuragique. C'est probablement l'un des plus beaux tombeaux des géants de l'île (daté de 18OO à 1600 avant JC). La stèle mesure 4 m de haut.
